Gay man shot dead in Washington DC
Police are appealing for information after a gay man was found shot dead in his car in south-east Washington.
Anthony J Perkins, 29, was found dead on Sunday near an airforce base on 4th Street when police responded to reports of gunfire.
Lt. Paul Wingate of the police homicide squad confirmed Perkins was gay but said no evidence had been found to suggest the killing was a hate crime.
He told the DC Agenda: “He was an intended target. It was not a random shooting.”
Wingate did not give any further details on how many times Perkins was shot or where the shots were fired from.
Perkins lived two miles away from the scene of his death.
