Tea Party darling Christine O’Donnell has explained why she walked out of a ‘Piers Morgan’ interview after the CNN host asked her about her views on gay marriage.

The politician, who is against gay marriage and has a history of anti-gay comments, tore off her microphone and walked off set during filming for Wednesday’s show after Morgan pressed her for her views.

During the interview, which was organised to promote her new book ‘Troublemaker’, O’Donnell refused to answer questions about gay marriage and masturbation, topics the usually outspoken politician has addressed in the past.

She argued that the questions were “irrelevant” and refused to answer.

Speaking at a Virginia rally yesterday, she said Morgan was sexist and would not have asked the questions if she was a man,

“It was just question after question after question about sex,” she said, according to CNN.

“Nothing to do with the book. And right as I’m like ‘I don’t want to go down this line of questioning,’ he throws the question of gay marriage in there.

“Really, at that point, you could have said what’s your mother’s name and I’m just in the mode of “I don’t want to go there, I don’t want to go there’ and then they made it, ‘Oh, she doesn’t want to address the question of gay marriage.’ ”

She added: “I think that I was a good sport leading up to his inappropriate questions in the beginning but we had gone way over the agreed amount of time and he took a decidedly creepy turn. He wouldn’t let up.”

Speaking to TODAY, she accused Morgan of “borderline sexual harassment”.

Morgan has not responded to her latest remarks but told Broadcasting & Cable magazine: “I can’t believe she can think – as not at all a front-line politician – that she can dictate to CNN the terms of an interview.”
