Dustin Lance Black confirms he is dating Tom Daley with ‘I love Tom’ cake
Oscar-winning screenwriter Dustin Lance Black using an image of an “I love Tom” cake has confirmed that he is dating Tom Daley during a night out in London.
After sitting front row at the poolside to cheer on Daley during episode one of ITV show Splash, the 39-year-old ‘Milk’ screenwriter tweeted the events of the pair’s evening out in London.
Reports suggest Dustin Lance Black flew into London just to support Daley, and during the evening, he tweeted a picture of a fan-made cake which displayed: “I love Tom”, alongside the message: “I concur. tomdaley1994 fans are the SWEETEST #forgetthediet.”
Daley also posted a picture of the pair in a London restaurant on Instagram.
He also tweeted: “#splash celebrations ? Beef Wellington…yes please!!!” and “Episode 1 done!! ? so much fun ? #Splash.”
As well as the image of the cake, Lance Black also tweeted: “Congrats @tomdaley1994 #splash,” and a picture of a button used to ask for champagne at their table.
The pair were later seen in attendance at G-A-Y at Heaven nightclub to see X Factor contestant Luke Friend perform.
Earlier this week Lance Black also tweeted pictures of himself at London tourist attractions including Westminster Abbey.
Notably, he specifically chose not to use a label to describe his sexuality, but said it was “love at first sight”, when he met his boyfriend.
In an interview with Jonathan Ross shortly afterwards, Daley said he had decided not to reveal who he was dating because he did not want the attention to ruin it.
He said: “I’d never felt like anything like it before. We were at a party and I hadn’t even spoken to him all night. I didn’t know what to do or if he was gay at first.
“At the moment, I wouldn’t like anything to change.
“I hope it doesn’t get ruined by the media attention, everyone has been so supportive and I hope it continues that way.”
Daley has been hailed by many including Lady Gaga and Clare Balding (among many others), and has been accepted by his grandparents for the announcement.
He was also immortalised in Russian doll form, alongside Sir Elton John, Graham Norton, George Michael and Stephen Fry, in a charity auction.
