Graham Norton: I’m too lazy to host Strictly
Graham Norton has played down talk of him succeeding Sir Bruce Forsyth as Strictly Come Dancing host.
“I wouldn’t jump at the chance,” he told The Sun. “I really enjoy the show but it’s a very tough gig.
“It’s very hard for a new person to take over… and I’m quite lazy.”
The gay Irish presenter and comedian had been tipped to take over the BBC One show following Sir Bruce’s announcement he is to step down.
Gay Torchwood actor John Barrowman and presenter Nick Knowles have also been mooted as potential replacements.
But Norton appears happy presenting his current Friday night chat show and Radio 2 Saturday show, along with the BBC’s coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest.
According to Norton, “the sensible way forward” would be to continue the Tess Daly-Claudia Winkleman partnership that has become a Strictly Come Dancing fixture.
