George Michael recovering at home after collapse
George Michael is resting at home days after being taken to hospital in an ambulance, the star’s spokesperson has confirmed.
His agent said: “In response to newspaper reports today we can confirm George was admitted to hospital on 22nd May. He was discharged last weekend and is well and resting. He is very much looking forward to the release of his new single in July.”
“Given the personal nature of this matter there will be no further comment.”
David Austin, a friend of Michael, told reporters on Thursday: “He’s not ill. He’s been mixing his record over the weekend he’s perfectly fine.
“We’ve been working down at Air Studios round the corner in Hampstead, that’s where we do all the recordings. He’s been mixing his demo tape over the weekend.”
A neighbour who did not wish to be named added: “He’s getting better.”
In March, the 50-year-old Wham! star announced he was no longer using cannabis.
Michael received an eight-week prison sentence in 2010 after pleading guilty to driving under the influence of drugs, following an incident where he crashed his car into a photo shop in London.
