Shia LeBeouf calls police officer ‘f*g’ during ‘Cabaret’ theatre arrest
Actor Shia LaBeouf reportedly hurled an anti-gay slur at a police officer, after being arrested for disorderly conduct in a Broadway theatre.
LaBeouf was led away from Studio 54 theatre in handcuffs last night, after allegedly disrupting a performance of Cabaret by slapping audience members and smoking.
According to the New York Post, the 28-year-old Transformers star screamed at officers: “Fuck you. I’ll fuck you up”, while later labelling the officer taking his fingerprints a “fag”.
LaBeouf has in recent months become known for his surreal public outbursts, following accusations of plagiarism last year.
Cabaret cast member Danny Burstein wrote on Facebook after the incident: “Ladies and gentlemen, this is your places call for Act II. Also, to let you know, Shia LaBeouf has just been escorted from the building in handcuffs.”
LaBeouf faces charges of criminal trespass, harassment and disorderly conduct.
The show currently features openly bisexual Scottish actor Alan Cumming in the role of the Emcee.
Cumming married his partner Grant Shaffer in New York two years ago, after the pair entered into a civil partnership in the UK.
Actor Jonah Hill earlier this month offered a “sincere apology”, after video emerged online of him calling a photographer a “faggot”.
He said: “Words can be really destructive. This kind of defamatory language can have a profound effect on someone who’s questioning their sexuality. and it’s never okay to use that kind of language.
“I personally vow to never, ever use that word ever again, and I urge everyone else to do the same.”
