Strictly Come Dancing star James Jordan has said he doesn’t think two men should be allowed to dance together on the show.

The dance professional, who is currently appearing on Celebrity Big Brother, has appeared on Strictly since 2006, and is married to fellow dancer Ola Jordan.

There had been speculation that the dance show could feature its first same-sex dance couple this year, after most of the show’s stars came out in favour of the idea.

However, the show’s line-up this year does not feature any same-sex pairings, with out radio presenter Scott Mills paired up with Joanne Clifton.

James Jordan said on Celebrity Big Brother last night: “I do not agree with men dancing with men.

“Latin dancing is about a man and a woman – not two people of the same sex.

“Just because you’re gay doesn’t mean you can’t dance with a woman.

“My dance idol growing up was as camp as a butcher’s hook.

“He was totally gay. But he was the most masculine dancer you could ever meet. Why would a man want to dance with a man?”

His comments conflict with those of the show’s other professionals, with judge Craig Revel Horwood saying previously: “I think they should have two men or two women together. It might be the right time, with gay marriage a national debate.”

Robin Windsor, who was the only openly gay professional dancer on the show, was forced to pull out last month over a back injury.
