Sarah Palin is to speak at the conference of an anti-gay group that regularly compares gay rights to the Holocaust.
The former Governor of Alaska and failed Vice Presidential candidate has been announced as part of the line-up of the Family Research Council’s Values Voters Summit, which will take place in Washington DC between 26 and 28 September.
The FRC was condemned by the Jewish Anti-Defamation League in June, after President Tony Perkins likened gay rights laws to the Holocaust – though he repeated his claim in August.
Mr Perkins, also believes that religious freedom only applies to Christians who oppose same-sex marriage, compares gay people to drug addicts, and threatened a “revolution” over equal marriage,
Anti-gay activist Mat Staver – who recently compared same-sex marriage to beheading carried out by ISIS – will also lead a panel at the event, titled ‘The Assault On Constitutional Rights In A Nanny State’.
A large number of other Republican politicians are attending the event, including Senator Rand Paul Representative Michele Bachmann, Rick Santorum and Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal.
The singer Sia earlier this year struck out at Palin, after it emerged the Republican used her song without permission at a political conference.
Palin last year admitted to defending a homophobic rant made by anti-gay Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson without actually reading his comments.
