Tom Daley is training in synchronised swimming – after the sport opened up to men for the first time.
The out Olympian has temporarily traded the diving platform for the pool in the series, learning a routine with swimming team Aquabatix.
The 2015 World Aquatics Championships – which are set to be held in Russia – will be the first international synchronised swimming competition in which men are allowed to compete.
He said: “Today I’m trying out for acrobatics. This month [governing body] FINA have decided that men can now officially compete in synchronised swimming at the World Championships. To celebrate that, I’m going to give it a go myself.”
The video asks: “Can Tom cut it as a synchro athlete now FINA have announced men will be allowed to compete in the sport at the World championships for the first time in 2015?”
Daley joked that after diving at the 2016 Olympics in Rio, he might switch professions and become a synchronised swimmer.
He said: “Who knows? After 2016, I might be doing synchronised swimming!”
He came out a year ago this week – uploading his famous YouTube confession on December 2 last year.
