Jaymi Hensley: My dad found out I’m gay when I was on a date
Union J’s Jaymi Hensley has spoken about coming out to his dad.
The 24-year-old X Factor singer revealed that his dad found out he was gay when he bumped into him on a date.
Speaking on BBC Three’s Sweat the Small Stuff, he said: “I started dating this guy and we went for dinner in this restaurant.
“I wasn’t out then, so I was just trying to be like we’re just friends, sit next to me, don’t sit opposite me. Then my dad came to the restaurant with his girlfriend and sat on the table next to us.
“I was like, ‘Hi dad, this is my boyfriend’. Dad didn’t know I was gay. That’s how my dad found out.”
Hensley added: “The guy was really camp so there was no trying to hide it, it’s not like, ‘This is my friend from football’.”
