Could you be the next LGBT Senior Organiser for the NUT?
The National Union of Teachers is looking for a new LGBT Senior Organiser based in the Eastern or London regions of England.
The educational landscape is changing at a rapid pace with the expansion of the government’s academies and free schools programme, along with attacks on teachers’ pay, conditions and professionalism. As a Union, working within such an environment presents us with a number of challenges, but it also provides an exciting opportunity to build a democratic, lay led union by empowering members and supporting local structures.
We are looking to expand our successful organising team by recruiting a permanent Senior Organiser to join our existing team. The job is based in our South East, Eastern or London region. Working closely with NUT divisions and NUT colleagues promoting equality, the post will play a dynamic and crucial role in delivering the Union’s key strategic priorities around building and empowering sustainable lay structures, continued membership growth, as well as campaigning activity and ensuring the Union delivers on priorities for under- represented groups particularly amongst our LGBT members
The Union offers good conditions of service including 31½ days annual leave, plus concessionary leave over the Christmas/New Year period and after some bank/public holidays and a contributory final salary pension scheme. A Union leased car will be provided to enable the role to be fulfilled.
Further details and an application pack can be downloaded from the NUT website.
Alternatively, email [email protected] quoting reference number OM35.
Completed application forms must be returned to NUT Headquarters by mid-day Wednesday 4th February 2015.
The commencing salary for this post is £38,538, plus a £912 luncheon allowance. A £4,767 London allowance will be added if applicable.
