Football club offers free tickets to gay fans
A football club is offering free admission to LGBT fans for a game, to celebrate LGBT History Month.
Non-league team Dulwich Hamlet Football Club, which plays in the Ryman League Premier Division, has made the offer to celebrate the month.
Gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender fans will be allowed free entry to the team’s match against Metropolitan Police FC tomorrow.
The cost is down from the usual price of £10, or £4 concessions.
A release said: “This coming Saturday 21st February at 3.00pm Dulwich Hamlet are at home to Metropolitan Police FC, in the Ryman League Premier Division, kick off 3.00pm.
“We are offering free admission to all in the wider LGBT community, and their friends, via a flyer. Our usual price is £10 adults, £4 concessions.
“We believe we are the first non-league football club to have had such a promotion within the LGBT community.
“The only thing we politely ask you to respect is that this is a promotion to attract new fans to our matches, so if you are already a Dulwich Hamlet supporter please kindly do not avail yourself of this offer.”
The 2015 Football v Homophobia campaign launched in Manchester this month, at the National Football Museum.
Launching yesterday, a number of clubs from up and down the UK – from Premier League teams such as Chelsea and Manchester City – to others like Dulwich Hamlet and Tonbridge Angels – offered their support.
The campaign, which has run for several years, aims to raise awareness of homophobia, and to remove it from football.
