Katie Hopkins: Gay community is being ‘intolerant’ over Dolce and Gabbana boycott
Katie Hopkins has waded into the Dolce and Gabbana boycott row by accusing the gay community of intolerance.
The former Apprentice contestant tweeted her support for Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, after the fashion pair caused widespread offence by slamming “non-traditional” same-sex parents and branding children born through IVF as “synthetic”.
Calls by Sir Elton John for a boycott of Dolce and Gabbana have quickly gathered pace, with support from celebrities including Matt Lucas, Sharon Stone and Courtney Love.
Victoria Beckham, a close friend of Sir Elton John and David Furnish, also tweeted her “love” for IVF babies.
But a few celebrities, most notably former Mirror editor Piers Morgan, have criticised the boycott, describing it as “bullying” and threatening freedom of expression.
Kate Hopkins also takes the same view.
Gay community should not demand the beauty pageant answer. D & G are gay men with their own views. Who’s being intolerant now? You or them?

In an online column for Now titled ‘Leave Dolce & Gabbana alone! They are entitled their opinions,’ Hopkins wrote: “Dolce and Gabbana are gay men. They used to be a couple. Now accused of homophobia, exactly who is being intolerant? You or them?
“Why are you right and they wrong? You want to #boycottDolceGabanna just because a Spice Girl told you to?
“Surely being tolerant is accepting we all have different opinions and should be able to express them freely. Elton could express the alternative view to D&G without calling for every other fawning celeb to turn up and throw rotten tomatoes at their brand.
“The list of things we can no longer say, is longer than the stuff we can.”
