Bruno Toniloi: A same-sex Strictly couple would be fantastic
Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno Tonioli said having a same-sex couple would be ‘absolutely fantastic’.
The BBC star, who is gay, told BANG Showbiz: “”I think you’d have to find the right contestants, but absolutely. Two girls, two boys, why not?
“I have no idea because we don’t know until the actual cast is revealed to the general public in September. But I think it would be fantastic.”
Former Strictly dancer James Jordan caused controversy by saying that having a same0sex couple dancing on the show would be “wrong” because “they would lose so many viewers.”
He went on: “I have nothing against same-sex couples, if they want to go and do their own competitions.
“But ballroom and Latin dancing is about a man dancing with a woman – that’s fact.”
Although when his wife, current Strictly dancer Ola Jordan was asked if she agreed with him, she said flatly “no”.
Out TV doctor Christian Jensen also weighed in, saying it would be “faintly ridiculous”:
He said: “But I don’t think that’s any sort of statement of, ‘We don’t approve of this, that or the other’ at all.
“I just think it’ll look silly quite frankly, and I think a man and a woman look better dancing together.”
