Eminem attacks Caitlyn Jenner in vile transphobic rap
Eminem has attacked trans activist Caitlyn Jenner – calling her “a bitch” and “Bruce” in a transphobic freestyle rap.
The rapper – known for penning homophobic lyrics in the past – performed the song on US television to promote Jake Gyllenhaal’s new film Southpaw.
“I invented prick, and that’s a true statement, I see the bitch in you, Caitlyn / I keep the pistol tucked like Bruce Jenner’s dick,” he says in the rap.
And after a pause, “No disrespect though, not at all, no pun intended, that took a lot of balls.”
The rapper’s performance has been heavily criticised on social media, with many calling the performance “offensive”, “unnecessary” and even “lazy”.
Eminem has previously claimed that his use of anti-gay slurs such as “dyke” and “faggot” are not actually aimed at the LGBT community – although many may argue that if he does not wish to offend the gay community, then the logical move would to use such overtly homophobic lyrics.
Last year, he defended his single “Rap God” – which was heavily criticised due to it contains violently homophobic lyrics – during an interview with Rolling Stone magazine.
“That word, those kind of words, when I came up battle-rappin’ or whatever, I never really equated those words [to actually mean “homosexual”]” he has claimed in the past.
“The real me [has] no issues with gay, straight, transgender, at all.”
“Yeah. It was more like calling someone a bitch or a punk or asshole. So that word was just thrown around so freely back then.”
