Is Maura from ‘Transparent’ jealous of Caitlyn Jenner?
Jeffrey Tambor, star of Amazon’s ‘Transparent’, has revealed that his character would be jealous of the attention Caitlyn Jenner is getting.
Tambor plays transgender woman Maura, who stuggles to come out to her grown children and ex-wife.
When asked if Maura would be jealous of Caitlin Jenner, he told The Associated Press: “You bet.
“Maura loves a red carpet and loves a party. Definitely, that’s something she would really like.”
Tambor revealed that he has been to dinner with Caitlyn since her transition, and said that Jenner is a fan of ‘Transparent’.
“I think she is courageous and I told her so.” Tambor says of Jenner.
“The example she is setting is so, so beautiful and it’s gonna go very, very far. [It’s] not only illustrative but also very inspiring to me.”
When asked if he says himself as a voice for the trans community, Tambor said he doesn’t. “But I think as an ally I can do great good,” he said.
Tambor also denied that Jenner would be making an appearance on ‘Transparent’.
‘Transparent’ is one in a wave of new programmes focusing on the transgender community. Jenner’s own series, ‘I Am Cait’ has begun airing, along with ‘I Am Jazz’ – which chronicles the life of fourteen-year-old trans girl Jazz Jennings. Former ‘Drag Race’ alum Carmen Carrera is set to star in the reality series ‘TransAmerica’, which is being produced by Tyra Banks.
Season two of ‘Transparent’ will begin streaming on Amazon in December, with a third run confirmed for next year.
