Jack Black: Australian PM is ‘living in the stone ages’ by stopping same-sex marriage
Jack Black has hit out at the Australian Prime Minister – claiming that he is “living in the stone ages” on same-sex marriage.
Liberal PM Tony Abbott failed to afford a free vote for his MPs on same-sex marriage this month – binding them to vote against equality.
He has also threatened to sack any ministers who break ranks on the issue.
School of Rock star Jack Back lashed out at the politician while appearing on Today FM.
He said: “I personally think the guy’s living in the stone ages… if he’s not seeing the writing on the wall.
“The movement of the world is heading towards equality for all people, all sexual preferences.
The actor added: “We’re all the same in the end, who cares what gives you a boner?”
Despite his dudeish image, Black recently revealed that he is a huge fan of Amazon’s transgender-based TV show Transparent.
The actor said: “I don’t know if you’ve had a chance to see Transparent, but that’s one of the great risk-takers.
“Way ahead of the curve. I love that show.”
Yesterday, an Australian politician abandoned his speech on equal marriage – to tell a story about his gay uncle.
He said: “It’s a horrific thing to watch someone die from AIDS. To have to do so not just with the horrors of the illness, but the indignities and the lack of recognition from the society around you.
“To have to deal with being beaten by hateful thugs in the street, while your body was destroying itself from the inside.”
