Gay sex scenes top viewer poll
Brokeback Mountain and Black Swan polled highest among viewers who were asked to choose their favourite on screen trysts.
The results of a poll to find Britain’s favourite movie sex scene has seen two two gay romps chart in the Top 3.
Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman’s steamy session in Black Swan was the overall winner, with Heath Ledger and Jake Gylenhaall’s coming third.
2,124 British adults were asked to choose their favourite screen romps in the poll, conducted by VouchersCodePro.
Brokeback Mountain is regarded by many as one of the most poignant LGBT films of all time – having two straight a-list celebrities portray the moving romance of two gay cowboys would’ve been previously unheard of.
According to Gyllenhaal – who recently released an emotional tribute to his co-star:”[Ledger] was extraordinarily serious about the political issues surrounding the movie.”
The actor continued: “A lot of times people would want to have fun and joke about it, and he was vehement about being serious, to the point where he didn’t really want to hear about anything that was being made fun of.”
Director Ang Lee also recently discussed how he cast the main roles – as the film celebrated its ten-year anniversary.
“During the interviews I had a feeling they were a little, if I may say, afraid, uncomfortable,” he said.
“Usually when they come to meet with [the director] their agents will follow up: “How’s it going?” They didn’t say that to me this time”.
However, he praised the actor’s he eventually chose, saying: “Jake is more of an improv actor – try this, try that – but Heath’s preparation was really deep.
“He kept his teeth clenched and his face scrunched up for about two months – he didn’t let go.” Lee added.”
Other films in the top ten include The Notebook – starring Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling – which came second, with the Top 5 completed by Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet in Titanic (4th) and Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson in Fifty Shades of Grey (5th).
VouchersCodePro spokesperson George Charles admitted that he was “surprised” to see Black Swan on top, and added: “Films play such a huge part in the lives of Britons and it seems that certain sex scenes do too.”
