Johnny Depp ‘concerned’ over daughter’s quick rise to fame since coming out
The actor has said that he is worried about the effect fame will have on his daughter Lily-Rose.
Johnny Depp has spoken of his concern about his teenage daughter’s swift rise to fame.
The star admitted he is “quite concerned” about Lily-Rose’s increasing public profile since she recently came out and graced the pages of Vogue.
“To be honest, I’m quite worried,” he said.
“I wasn’t expecting all this to happen to Lily-Rose, especially not at this age.”
However, he said he would not stop his daughter – who is set to star with him in upcoming film ‘Yoga Hosers’ pursuing her dream.
“But its her passion, and she’s having fun,” he said.
“She knows I’m always there for her,” he added.
Lily-Rose made a subtle statement about her sexuality back in August – by taking part in a quirky new campaign aimed at promoting society’s inclusiveness and acceptance of LGBT people in America.
It is still unclear where on the spectrum Depp falls, but fellow activists have welcomed her decision to use her personal experience to help others deal with their sexuality.
Earlier this year, Lily Rose’s stepmother Amber Heard said she has had to “fight” for movie roles since she came out as bisexual.
The 29-year-old ‘Magic Mike XXL’ star – who came out as bisexual back in 2010, before she met her husband Johnny Depp in 2012 – said she didn’t want to be “defined by” her sexuality.
Speaking to the Times, she said: “I don’t want to have to deny my sexuality in order to be me. But I don’t want to have to be defined by it. I’m fundamentally opposed to trying to edit myself to be palatable or popular. I don’t give a f**k. I fight, but I shouldn’t have to.”
