Man with cerebral palsy forced to crawl from a plane
After an airline failed to provide help to a man with cerebral palsy, he was forced to crawl from a plane.
DArcee Neal crawled from the middle of the plane to the doorway at Reagan National Airport in Arlington, Virginia.
United Airlines failed to provide an aisle chair and someone to assist Neal.
Needing to use the bathroom, Neal decided to leave the plane by any means necessary.
“I mean, it’s humiliating,” he said. “No one should have to do what I did.”
Not only that, but Neal had been travelling back from San Francisco after speaking at an event about accessible transportation.
“Half the time, I feel like airlines treat people with disabilities as a secondary concern,” Neal went on.
United Airlines has said it regrets not providing assistance to Neal.
The National Disability Rights Network says there were almost 30,000 complaints in the US with similar incidents in 2014.
Others have made similar claims against other airlines, with assistance taking too long to materialise.
