Watch: The trailer for Transparent season two has landed
The trailer for the second season of Transparent has landed – and it’s got sass, surprises and gender surgery.
Jeffrey Tambor stars as trans woman Maura Pfefferman in the Amazon series, which focusses on a parent coming out to their children and transitioning later in life.
The comedy-drama series aired its first season last year to rave reviews – picking up four Emmys and two Golden Globes in the process.
The first trailer for the show’s second run landed today, ahead of the show’s return to Amazon Prime on December 11.
The clip shows Moira fully embraced by her family, after the drama of the first season – but facing some tough personal questions of her own.
Hinting at the direction of the second season, Moira is seen contemplating whether she wants to undergo surgery.
“I’m going to have to get back to you on that one”, she tells her doctor.
The two minute clip also features Moira learning to say ‘Yaaaaas Queen’ – which, of course, is a skill that takes work.
The clip also features Moira’s bratty kids finding themselves in more generally awful situations, but there’s a surprising amount of Pfefferman family unity on display.
The show’s creator Jill Solloway recently hinted that the show will deal with the meteoric rise of Caitlyn Jenner since it was last on air.
Asked about a potential Caitlyn Jenner cameo, Solloway says: “I don’t know if she’d want to act, but we definitely want to incorporate the fact that she came out into this season.
“Just to have that base conversation somewhere in a scene, for sure.”
Tambor also suggested that Moira would be crazy jealous of the former Olympian. He explained: “Maura loves a red carpet and loves a party. Definitely, that’s something she would really like.”
