Jaden Smith named as the new face of Louis Vuitton womenswear
The actor and rapper says he refuses to be defined by traditional stereotypes.
Jaden Smith has been revealed as the new face of Louis Vuitton womenswear.
Early shots from the fashion brand’s spring/summer 2016 campaign were unveiled on artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière’s Instagram account over the weekend.
In the images, Smith can be seen donning a leather jacket over a fringed top paired with a black-and-white print skirt.
The actor has previously been photographed out and about wearing skirts and dresses, hitting headlines after he uploaded a few snaps of his own to Instagram.
He accompanied one picture – in which he wears a fetching black and white number – with the caption: “Went To TopShop To Buy Some Girl Clothes, I Mean ‘Clothes.’”
Last summer, Smith – the son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett-Smith – also wore a white dress when attending his school prom with actress Amanda Stenberg.
Stenberg tweeted snaps of the two before their prom, tagging the photo simply as “prom”.
The 17-year-old Karate Kid star has gained huge popularity on social media due to his unique tweets and images – most notably those in which he opened up about wearing dresses.
In March, his representatives stepped in to deny he is gay, after he tweeted his love for rapper Tyler the Creator.
Speaking to Billboard magazine recently, Smith compared himself to Einstein when discussing his style choices.
“Einstein didn’t really like to change clothes because he had too much other stuff to worry about and I’m the same,” he said.
“All black is pretty much my go-to look. If somebody is just wearing something for the blogs, that’s really sad because they’re not living for themselves, versus someone wearing a kimono who’s having an awesome time.
“I really look to see, do you care more about what other people think, or are you having fun?”
