Elton John confirms he will star in upcoming Kingsman sequel

Elton John is to star in the upcoming sequel to 2014 hit Kingsman.
Although he may be better known for his singing skills rather than his acting ones, Sir Elton John is set to join the cast of upcoming spy sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle.
The musician could appear in Matthew Vaughn’s follow-up to his 2014 spy film, which recently announced that Channing Tatum had joined the cast.
The legendary pop star has shared a picture on Instagram of a parody poster for the film, which itself teased the return of Colin Firth’s Harry Hart.
The caption reads: “Wednesday night’s alright for fighting”, alluding to Elton’s ‘Saturday Night’s Alright (For Fighting)’ and includes his trademark glasses. Elton wrote: “It’s been a long time since Tommy….”
While plot details are being kept under wraps, the Kingsman sequel will continue to follow the adventures of Egerton’s Gary Unwin who has been recruited by an underground spy organisation.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle is slated for release in 2017.
John has previously appeared as himself on film and in TV in the past – featuring in Spice World and The Simpsons – but never played a fictional character.
Sir Elton was recently attacked by the activist campaign group ‘Fathers 4 Justice’ who criticised his “grotesque” family setup.
Last week, a branch of the group took to Twitter to hit out at Sir Elton John – who has two children with his husband David Furnish.
Referring to a harassment suit against Sir Elton, they wrote: ”What happens to kids if #EltonJohn & David Furnish split over tabloid story? Boys already denied love of a mother.”
Sir Elton has dismissed the “baseless” lawsuit the group was referring to.
The singer’s lawyers said in a statement: “This baseless lawsuit is brought by a disgruntled former security officer seeking to extract an undeserved payment.
“These claims are patently untrue and contradicted by numerous previous statements made by this plaintiff.
“We will not give in to his latest abuse of the legal system.”
