Cara Delevingne: ‘If people want to say I’m gay, that’s great’
The former supermodel says she is “completely in love” with her girlfriend, who she credits with “changing her life”.
Suicide Squad star Cara Delevingne has opened up about her same-sex relationship with her rumoured fiancee Annie Clark.
The Enchantress actress says she is truly bewitched by her other half, who Delevingne says has taught her the true “meaning of love”.
“I’m completely in love,” she told Vogue. “Before, I didn’t know what love was – real love. I didn’t understand the depth of it. I always used to think it was you against the world.
“Now I know the meaning of life is love. Whether that’s for yourself or for the world or your partner.”
The model – who is rumoured to have recently proposed to Clark – also discussed her sexuality, which she refused to label – although she is more than happy for other people to.
“I’m obviously in love, so if people want to say I’m gay, that’s great. But we’re all liquid – we change, we grow.”
Delevingne – who last month discussed her battle with depression – went on to admit that as a child, she used the word ‘gay’ as an insult.
“As a child I used ‘gay’ as a bad world, as in, ‘That’s so gay’. All my friends did.”
Delevingne – who recently revealed her reasons for giving up a life on the catwalk – also stressed the importance of equal pay for women in Hollywood.
“I would probably still do it even if I wasn’t paid at all,” she explained. “But in terms of equal pay, I need to be paid the same as the guy who has equal billing with me.
“Otherwise I won’t do it. Because if you accept less, you’re just letting everyone else down and continuing the cycle.”
The full interview appears in the September issue of Vogue, on sale Thursday, August 4.
Suicide Squad is out this Friday (August 5) in UK cinemas.
