Pulse survivors make incredible thank you video for donations
Survivors of the Pulse massacre have released a thank you video after huge donations from the public.
50 people were killed and 53 injured in the Pulse gay club shooting on June 12, when a gunman opened fire in the club.
The OneOrlando fund received donations from 150,000 individuals and companies in more than 120 countries, with $30 million in donations from separate funds to be distributed among victims and families.
In a video, survivors recalled part of their stories before thanking the world for the incredible response to the shooting.
One survivor says: “When you realise that it’s not music and you hear people screaming, everything happens so fast.”
Angel Colon, who was hospitalised and is still on the long road to recovery, says: “I was there with my husband and six other friends. I lost four of them in the tragedy.”
Christine Leinonen, who lost her son Christopher in the shooting, adds: “Nothing is going to replace my only child. He was just my whole world.”
However, in a dark moment, many of the survivors take solace in the inrecible reaction around the world.
Ricardo Negron said: “First of all, thank you. Thank you for caring, thank you for acting like decent human beings capable of empathising with the pain that others are feeling.”
Other survivors echo the sentiment: “It’s a really good feeling to see that we’re not alone… it means that the world has our back.”
Survivor Brandon Wolf said: “It restores my faith in humanity that all of these people from all of these countries could give a little love.”
A statement said: “Equality Florida raised over $9M USD for victim relief following the horrific tragedy at Pulse Nightclub on June 12, 2016.
“This video is to thank all those who gave and to all those who believe love conquers hate.”
