This MTV star came out as gay in the most casual way possible
Scream actress Bex Taylor-Klaus came out this week in the most nonchalant fashion, after rumours about her sexual orientation circulated on the internet.
The actor tweeted “hello my name is bex and yes the rumours are true I am v gay” as part of announcement that she would be holding a YouNow livestream session.
The actor has played a series of gay characters on The Killing, House of Lies and MTV’s Scream.
During the stream session fans asked if she was scared to come out following the aftermath of the presidential election.
“Terrified, absolutely terrified. Part of why I’m coming out is because there’s so much hate and fear in and around the LGBT community right now and it’s important for us not to halt progress out of fear,” she said.
“Yes, it’s a scary time,” Taylor-Klaus continued, “but we need to stand up and say, even if you are afraid, I’m not afraid, or even if I am afraid, I’m strong. I am who I am and you can’t take that away from me.”
The MTV star also spoke about the experience she had coming out to her family and what it was that made her reveal her sexuality to the public.
“I have this thing where I value honesty, and I realised that I have not been honest both with myself and with all of you.”
“The people around me have been overwhelmingly supportive. Most people have been like, ‘Obviously, duh. How come it took you so long?’ I’m like, ‘Haha it didn’t! But I won’t tell you that until right now, on the internet.’”
“I think that’s the real reason that I’m doing it this way, so that I have a chance to interact with those of you who feel that way and who kind of want to know more.”
