JK Rowling sent Harry Potter books to this young fan in Aleppo
JK Rowling has sent Harry Potter eBookes to a young fan in Aleppo after her mother asked how she could access the novels.
The young fan sent Tweets to the author asking for a way to read the books after watching the film adaptations.
Bana Alabed, seven, says on her Twitter profile that she lives on the eastern side of the Syrian city of Aleppo, where roads block anyone coming in or out.
Her mother tweeted: “Hi JK Rowling I watched Harry Potter movie, Bana would like to read the book.”
The author replied: “I hope you do read the book, because I think you’d like it. Sending you lots and lots of love xxx”
When her mother added: “She wants to but we don’t have it here. We watched the movie before. How do we get?,” a member of Rowling’s staff stepped in and organised the ebook.
The author was delighted, writing: “Brilliant idea … I’ve been obsessing over this all morning!”
The young fan also posted to say she was “reading to forget the war”.
JK Rowling has become known for reaching online, defending diver Tom Daley from homophobic abuse following the Olympics.
