Gabbana criticised for praising Melania Trump as a ‘#DGWoman’
Stefano Gabbana, of Dolce and Gabbana has come under fire for praising Melania Trump who wore one of his dresses.
Gabbana wrote on Instagram praising the soon-to-be First Lady of the United States.
He called her a “#DGWoman” in the post.
After a number of negative comments were posted by followers, Gabbana asked not to be identified as “gay”.
Some suggested that he should be more careful about endorsing the Trumps given that he is a gay man.
He wrote: “Dont call me gay please!! Im a man!!! Who I love its my private life!!!”
The designer duo last year released a new fashion range featuring loving same-sex parents – after the pair caused controversy last year.
Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana – who are gay themselves – whipped up a storm in March 2015 when they lashed out at same-sex adoption, IVF and surrogacy, hitting out at ‘synthetic’ children of gay people.
The pair sparked a bitter feud with Sir Elton John– whose sons Zachary and Elijah were born via IVF – leading Gabbana to brand him a “fascist”.
The pair finally made peace with Sir Elton in August, when he accepted their apology for the remarks.
