Cate Blanchett in drag lip-syncing to ‘You Don’t Own Me’ is the only thing you ever need to see
Cate Blanchett took to the stage at the Stonewall Inn in drag to lip sync to a classic… and it is one of the most magnificent things ever.
The star appeared dressed in Givenchy, and completely nailed ‘You Don’t Own Me’. Every. Single. Word.
Blanchett, an Oscar winner, took to the stage to lip sync to the Dusty Springfield version of the song.
She later performed ‘Hello’ by Adele.
After totally nailing the performance and being surrounded by drag artists, she stuck around to take pictures with punters.
The performance was part of a benefit for the Newtown Action Alliance.

Blanchett was faced with the question many actors are asked if they play a lesbian, gay or bisexual character, about her own sexual orientation, but she answered the question perfectly.
She quite literally danced for joy after winning an award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala for her role in the drama ‘Carol’.
Speaking of her new role in the film, Blanchett said it can be frustrating playing a gay characterbecause many people expect their own relationships to be represented.
“The problem is that when you represent a character in a same-sex relationship, it’s like you have to represent them all, ” she said.
“You become a spokesperson, which really isn’t the point.
“When the time comes that we have a diversity of same-sex couples in film, then the problem is solved, I don’t have to stand for everyone.”
In the run up to the film’s release, Blanchett also revealed that an answer she gave to a journalist concerning her sexuality was intentionally vague to make a point.
Blanchett was asked if she had been in relationships with women, to which she answered “Yes, many times.”
