Caitlyn Jenner: I’m after Donald Trump if he ignores LGBT Americans
Caitlyn Jenner has come under considerable criticism for her support of Donald Trump.
The reality star seems to change her mind on the 45th president on an almost daily basis.
Now she has claimed she is “after” Trump if he attacks the LGBT community.
Speaking at an event in San Francisco, as part of the Commonwealth Club of California’s Good Lit series, she said: “I’m coming after them,” referring to Republicans.
“I will do it publicly. If he messes with us I will come after him.
“If he does stuff like that I will call him the most anti-LGBTQ president we’ve had.”
Jenner is currently promoting her memoir, The Secrets of My Life.
She said that she is not defined by being a Republican or Trump supporter, but by being a defender of the LGBT community.
“How can I use that and that platform to try to make a difference?” Jenner asked.
“My loyalties are not with Republican Party; my loyalties are not with Donald Trump. My loyalties lie with my community.
“I’d rather try to convince the Republicans Party to do a better job when it comes to equality for all and equality for the LGBT community than to try to fight the Democrats on lowering taxes and less regulations.”
Jenner previously said she was “alienated” by Ellen DeGeneres over her previous opposition to same-sex marriage.
She also opened up about dreams she has where she is still her pre-transition self.
In her new memoir, the Olympian-turned-reality star revealed that she underwent gender reassignment surgery.
In an interview with CNN last week, though, Jenner said: “As far as LGBT issues, yes, he’s made some mistakes.
“I don’t support him in everything that he does. But we needed to shake the system up.”
Jenner transitioned two years ago, revealing her new look on the cover of Vanity Fair.
She became a huge hit and was celebrated for the bravery of going through the experience so publicly.
However her TV series, I Am Cait, flopped in its second season, following a string of positive comments about the Republicans and Donald Trump, that alienated some of her core fans.
Jenner had previously given her support to Trump, and argued he could be much better for the LGBT community than people gave him credit.
Following the decision to officially reverse Obama’s protections, however, she appeared to go off the maverick Republican.
Jenner had originally offered herself as a trans ambassador for the Trump administration.
She also had quite the u-turn on the issue of same-sex marriage.
Jenner previously said she was on an evolving journey on the issue – but has now let us all know that journey is complete.
“I am 100% behind gay marriage – let’s clear that up,” she adamantly told Diane Sawyer.
