Colton Haynes joins American Horror Story season 7
Teen Wolf and Arrow star Colton Haynes has signed up to the latest season of American Horror Story.
The out actor announced today that he would be appearing on the upcoming seventh season Ryan Murphy’s horror anthology series
Haynes shared an image in which he appears shirtless with bleached-blonde hair, and blood-like red stains around his mouth.
He wrote: “American Horror Story Season 7…Already feels like home ? So excited.”
Not much is known about the theme for the upcoming season of the horror series, but Murphy has hinted that part of it it may be based around the 2016 US Election.
He revealed earlier this year: “I don’t have a title yet, but the season that we begin shooting in June will be about the election that we just went through, so I think that will be exciting for a lot of people.”
Asked if a character based on Donald Trump would appear, the showrunner hinted: “Maybe.”
He later explained: “[It is about] what happened on that night and the fallout of that night, which to many people, from all sides of the camps is a horror story. [AHS] is always so fun when it’s about the zeitgeist and what we’re doing now.”
Haynes joins series regulars Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson, who are expected to return.
Lady Gaga, who appeared in the fifth and sixth season of the show, is expected to sit out season seven to concentrate on her music career.
Former Glee showrunner Ryan Murphy is behind a slate of anthology shows that have taken TV by storm.
He has launched two further anthology series after the success of American Horror Story – Feud and American Crime Story.
The third season of American Crime Story will focus on the murder of Gianni Versace.
Ricky Martin recently signed up for a role as Versace’s same-sex partner, while Glee alum Darren Criss will play mass murderer Andrew Cunanan.
Meanwhile, Murphy has hinted that the third season of Feud may take on some distinctly gay subject matter.
He teased: “I have one good idea, but I have to get the right actors. It’s something Mark Ruffalo and I had talked about hearing.
“He’s a buddy of mine from The Normal Heart, so we talked about something, but I don’t know yet. I haven’t locked into it.”
