Watch Jack Black play an accidental gay character in the new Jumanji trailer
The new Jumanji trailer was released today and Jack Black plays an accidental gay character.
The 90’s classic TV show which follows some kids being sucked into a board game has been reinvented.
The trailer for “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” sees a group of stereotypical kids put to work in their school basement.
The “pretty girl”, the ‘jock”, the “nerd” and the “loner” are clearing out the area when they come across a video game console which they set up.
They choose their characters, and are immediately thrust into the game in the body of their avatars.
The “pretty girl” choses the body of Professor Shelly Oberon – a cartographer, code-breaker and “curvy genius”.
Unfortunately for her, Professor Shelly Obero is played by Jack Black – which is a far fetch away from the selfie-obsessed high schooler’s look.
The “nerd” is transported into the world into the body of Dwayne Johnson – a 6ft hunk.
Black’s character becomes inadvertently gay when lusts over Johnson in the explosive trailer, which also features Nick Jonas.
“Damn, that is a man right there,” Black whispers under his breath.
Black recently opened up about losing his brother to an AIDS related illness.
The 46-year-old said his brother died at the age of 32 in 1989, saying: “Losing a family member is the worst thing I could imagine.”
“[Death] didn’t happen quickly. We all saw the deterioration. He was only 32. So very young. We were robbed of something precious. It was devastating.”
“I have two gay siblings: my big sister Rachel, and my big brother, Howard. He was a big influence on me. He took me to my first rock concert. I was 11; he was 23. He was so vibrant, creative, amazing. He shaped my taste in music,” he added.
Dwayne Johnson, Jack Black, Kevin Hart, and Karen Gillan all star in the film, which is due to come out December 20.
