People think this popular children’s book has some ‘dubious scenes’
A book series taught in schools all over the UK contains scenes which some have found hilariously unsavoury.
Ed Brody shared the excerpts from a book belonging to his friend’s four-year-old child on Twitter, and it went viral.
The Biff, Chip and Kipper series has more than 800 titles and is a mainstay of the UK’s national curriculum.
The books are used in 80 percent of the nation’s primary schools.
The pictures in this edition appear to show three men entering a bush, in conversation with each other.
An old lady later approaches the same bush, only for her hat and glasses to fall off in surprise as she sees what is happening behind it.
Ed didn’t say what he thought what was going on in the background, simply labelling the events “somewhat dubious scenes”.
Other users, however, were happy to oblige.
One wrote: “Biff and Chip go dogging.”
Another said: “Just a few men looking for snakes in a bush totally innocent behaviour “.
They weren’t the only people to find it funny and welcome the innuendo.
One person pointed out that “parents have to read these books ENDLESSLY.
“Might as well put in some easter eggs for them to keep it fun “.
But Oxford University Press, which publishes the series, was keen to pour cold water on everyone’s fun.
The publisher wrote on Twitter: “Interesting spot but some of the pages are missing from this title!
“We can reassure you nothing untoward is going on behind that bush,” it added.
