Halsey has gone viral by revealing the truth about being bisexual – and fans couldn’t agree more

Halsey is famously outspoken about her sexuality.
It’s one of the most endearing qualities of the American singer-songwriter, who hit number one with her latest album, Hopeless Fountain Kingdom.

She has repeatedly released explicitly bisexual love songs, such as Strangers, which she sang with bisexual Fifth Harmony star Lauren Jauregui.
When her record label suggested straight pop star Katy Perry for the other half of the song’s duet, she hit back in style.

She told executives: “I’m not putting an artist on this song unless they’re f***ing gay” – and she got her way.
And the second single she released from her latest album was Bad At Love, another brilliant song about same-sex relationships.

Last night, she spoke out yet again in order to increase bisexual representation.
In doing so, she highlighted a troubling way in which bi people are viewed.
On Twitter, she wrote: “So if I’m dating a guy I’m straight, and if I date a woman, I’m a lesbian.
“The only way to be a #True bisexual is to date 2 people at once.”
It’s an impossible catch-22 of a situation that can only fuel bi-erasure.

Another struggle was on show in Halsey’s comments, as many people who don’t understand irony condemned polygamy – a natural consequence of being polyamorous.
Westworld star Evan Rachel Wood agreed with Halsey, writing in response: “To [everyone] except your partners. Then you are too gay or too straight.

The actress, who has long been an LGBT activist, lashed out at Ben Affleck earlier this year after it emerged that the actor had allegedly said kissing a man was his “greatest acting challenge,” calling on him to “grow up”.
Another fan wrote that they were “gonna print that tweet out and hand it out to the people who actually think like that”.
