This RuPaul’s Drag Race star officiated a same-sex wedding – and it was the fashion event of the year
RuPaul’s Drag Race star Alyssa Edwards has declared two fashion designers husband and husband in style.
Over the weekend, she officiated the wedding of Robbie Richard and Neil Marek.
She also helped them celebrate the marriage in Texas.
“Honestly the whole night was VERY gay and I lived for the whole thing. There were ponies, neon, candles, a riding bull, and it was costume mandatory so everyone turned looks,” said one guest on Reddit.
The drag queen led attendees in a ceremony that featured a dress code of “Wild West meets Club Kids.”
Alyssa’s outfits for the gig were designed by the now-husbands, who have their own fashion label, Marek+Richard, and also designed their own wedding garb.
“She popped out of a cake and everything,” the wedding guest added.
“I wasn’t allowed to take too many photos because they were filming for Alyssa’s new show but it was honestly an extravagant evening.”
The documentary-style show Beyond Belief, which is set to explore Alyssa’s life and her dance studio, is being kept under wraps for now.
Demand for Alyssa-related content is high though, one fan commenting: “Can you please share their wedding video?
“This is something I CANNOT wait to see!”
Some saw the funny side, commenting: “This is the future liberals want”.
Alyssa became a fan favourite after the reality star appeared on Season 5 and All Stars 2 of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
She went on to host her own hit YouTube show, called Alyssa’s Secret.
This was named after a running joke of hers which came from a disastrous – yet iconic – perfume challenge in Season 5.
If there’s one thing for sure, no-one can get enough of Alyssa.
RuPaul’s Drag Race returns with All Stars 3 on January 25 on VH1.
