Celebrity Big Brother: Did Courtney Act go too far when they pulled down Andrew Brady’s pants?
Courtney Act, aka Shane Jenek, pulled down Andrew Brady’s trousers and underwear on Celebrity Big Brother this week – and some fans think he went too far.
Some fans called for Jenek to receive a warning for pulling down the trousers and attempting to pull down the boxers of Andrew Brady at the weekend.
But Big Brother has spoken and said that Jenek will not receive a warning for the incident which took place during a play fight between the pair.
And Brady has reflected in the diary room on the incident, saying: “[My pants] didn’t come down… It was a surprise that happened earlier.
“Oh my god, this is what it feels like to not be in trouble for once… I’ll just tell him to not do it again, but it’s funny, you know. I don’t get offended by stuff like that.”
But not all fans were convinced, some saying that the situation would have been different if the play fight had taken place between a man and a woman.
Warnings have been given in the past, one to Denise Welch for pulling down the trousers of Playboy model Karissa Shannon in 2012, and another to Sam Thompson for flicking the nipple of Jemma Lucy last year.
One CBB viewer reacted saying: “Imagine if that was a man and a woman. big brother would be giving a warning. but they won’t because it’s two men and it’s not hetrosexual [sic].”
Another added: “Surely Shane’s gunna [sic] get a warning for pulling a housemates underwear down?”
A third said: “Speaking of Andrew’s arse, why hasn’t Shane J been warned about inappropriate behaviour for pulling Andrew’s pants down? The BB rules don’t seem to be applied equally to men and women it appears.”
Many called for Jenek to get a warning for pulling down Brady’s pants: “I also hope that Shane/Courtney is getting a warning for pulling Andrew’s pants down!!”
The pair, known as ‘Courtdrew’ on social media, has provoked a storm of questions about the amount of flirting happening between them on the Channel 5 show.
In a heartfelt conversation during Sunday night’s episode, the pair also discussed the speculation about their relationship that had begun in and outside of the CBB house.
Shane – Courtney’s non-drag persona – and Andrew clarified to each other and the audience that they were just friends.
Shane said: “We’re just normal people having fun times. There’s no funny business going on.
“Why can’t a gay boy and a straight boy just be friends?”
On Friday, Celebrity Big Brother viewers were left stunned after the straight-identifying Andrew kissed Shane, the non-drag alter ego of the RuPaul’s Drag Race star.
Andrew then admitted to having a crush on Courtney.
This year’s season of the celebrity reality show has frequently made headlines for its discussion of gender norms and the inclusion- and eviction- of controversial trans broadcaster India Willoughby.
The Channel 5 show is expected to run until early February, with Courtney Act now the odds-on favourite to win.
