Khloe Kardashian helped a gay man come out to his parents and their reaction was beautiful
Khloe Kardashian has helped a gay Indian man come out to his strictly religious parents and it’s incredibly heartwarming.
On a recent episode of Revenge Body, hosted by Khloe Kardashian, a gay man is helped to come out to his religious Indian parents.
Appearing on American reality TV show Revenge Body, hosted by Khloe Kardashian, the man was one of two people to get a makeover with the help of stylists and personal trainers. The show aims to transform the participant’s life by making them feel better about themselves both physically and mentally.
The most recent episode sees Mayank, a closeted gay man, confess to Khloe that he has weight issues and has still not told his religious parents that he is gay and has a boyfriend.
He explained to Khloe on the show: “My parents don’t know that I’m gay because it’s just easier than disappointing them.”
Mayank was worried that if he were to admit to his parents that he had a boyfriend they would not accept him because of the taboo that surrounds homosexuality within his culture.
It is currently punishable by law to have sex with someone of the same gender in India, and same-sex couples do not have the right to get married or have a civil partnership.
The episode shows Mayank embark on a 12-week fitness regime with celebrity personal trainer Gunnar Peterson, who has worked with the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Sylvester Stallone.
After gruelling training sessions that see him push his body to the limits, and a strict diet plan, the end of the episode sees him reveal his new self to his friends and family.
Having lost 44 pounds and feeling more confident in himself than ever before Mayank decides to tell his parents that he is gay.
Sat with them he tells them how much his experience has made him understand who he is and how he should “own himself”, before admitting to them: “that person is a gay man who is in love with his boyfriend.”
The most heart-warming moment comes from his father who tells him: “you are my son; your happiness is my happiness so I accept you.”
The camera shows a teary-eyed Mayank who feels both relieved that he can finally stop hiding his sexuality from his parents and thankful that they understood and accepted him for who he is.
People on Twitter could not get over the heartwarming moment between Mayank and his parents, and many tweeted to express their teary emotions.
Posting a before and after shot on Instagram, Mayank could not thank Revenge Body and the team enough for his life-changing experience. He wrote alongside the image: “none of this would have been possible without @khloekardashian Whose love and support and genuine care and interest in my story and my life helped me go on this journey!”
However, his biggest praise was to his parents: “thank you to my parents for being open and loving and proud of me and accepting me for me and going on this journey with me. Thank you for always being there for me and thank you for everything you do for me.
