Munroe Bergdorf reveals new look following ‘facial feminisation’ surgery
Munroe Bergdorf has revealed the results of her ‘facial feminisation’ surgery, and she looks incredible.
The transgender model and activist shared images on Twitter and Instagram taken by professional photographer Dimitris Theocharis after undergoing a number of facial surgeries.
The 30-year-old explained that the surgeries had helped her to look “in harmony with how I see myself on the inside”.
She wrote: So, I wanted to be the first to tell you all. Three weeks ago I underwent Facial Feminisation Surgery (FFS), which consisted of multiple surgeries to feminise my facial features and help bring them into harmony with how I see myself on the inside.
“This is surgery that I’ve waited for and desperately wanted for over seven years and I can’t tell you how much of a weight has been lifted as a result.”
The star, who hit the headlines last year after she became entangled with L’Oréal in a race row, came out as trans at 18.
She explained that she’s suffered from severe dysphoria about the way she looks, and so the surgery was an important step to help her move on.
“Like many trans people, gender dysphoria is something that I have battled with throughout my transition.
“I made this decision by myself, for myself, so that I can start the next chapter of my life.
“Surgery is a personal choice, not all trans people want surgery, not all trans people need or have the medical access to surgery, but it was the right decision for me and I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been able to make such a decision,” she added.
Her followers congratulated her on the life-changing surgery.
One person wrote: “Absolutely glowing. your beauty has always permeated, i am so happy for your joy.”
“You were beautiful on the inside and out before the surgery @munroebergdorf. Glad to hear you’re now comfortable in your skin. Keep slaying,” another said.
A third added: “You know when ya fav song is playing and you turn it up louder because it just that damn good?? Well, you just turned up your beauty because as before, its just that damn good!!! You look even more beautiful!! I’m so happy that you had the opportunity to fulfill one of your heart’s closest desires.”
Bergdorf is now the face of cruelty-free make-up brand Illamasqua after she left L’Oréal and called for the company to be boycotted.
She was working as an ambassador for the beauty giant in its #allworthit campaign.
However, she was dropped after writing an important post about how racism is inherent to white people.
She wrote in the post: “Honestly I don’t have energy to talk about the racial violence of white people any more. Yes ALL white people.
“Because most of y’all don’t even realise or refuse to acknowledge that your existence, privilege and success as a race is built on the backs, blood and death of people of colour. Your entire existence is drenched in racism. From micro-aggressions to terrorism, you guys built the blueprint for this sh*t.”
“Come see me when you realise that racism isn’t learned, it’s inherited and consciously or unconsciously passed down through privilege,” she added.
L’Oréal fired Bergdorf after the post and claimed that they did “support diversity and tolerance towards all people irrespective of their race, background, gender and religion.
“The L’Oréal Paris True Match campaign is a representation of these values and we are proud of the diversity of the Ambassadors who represent this campaign.
“We believe that the recent comments by Munroe Bergdorf are at odds with those values, and as such we have taken the decision to end the partnership with her.
“L’Oréal remains committed to celebrating diversity and breaking down barriers in beauty.”
