Transparent star Trace Lysette wants to “make a really great season five” after Jeffrey Tambor axe

Transparent star Trace Lysette, who accused co-star Jeffrey Tambor of sexual misconduct, says she wants to “make a really great season five” of the hit show.
It comes after Tambor, who stars as Maura Pfefferman in the Amazon series, was officially axed after Lysette accused him of sexual misconduct last year.
Lysette’s claim was among other allegations made against Tambor. His former assistant also accused the actor of groping her and making inappropriate comments, while Lysette alleged that the actor had “made many sexual advances and comments”.
With this in mind, creator Jill Soloway and the studio pushed back filming of Transparent to begin at the end of the year, possibly in December.

Speaking on the red carpet before this week’s GLAAD Media Awards, where Transparent was a nominee, Lysette said: “Look, I did what was right for me with what occurred to me and my body and I’ve never made decisions out of fear.
“I’ve always been a fighter and survivor and so the outpouring of support from the public was very reaffirming to me and it was very tough, but that made it a little bit better.”
When asked if she felt that justice was served, she added: “You know what would be justice? If we can make a really great season five.”
In a statement responding to the initial claims, Tambor denied that he had acted like a predator, adding that he was “deeply sorry if any action of mine was ever misinterpreted by anyone as being sexually aggressive”.
“I am deeply sorry if any action of mine was ever misinterpreted by anyone as being sexually aggressive or if I ever offended or hurt anyone.

“But the fact is, for all my flaws, I am not a predator and the idea that someone might see me in that way is more distressing than I can express.”
And, following his dismissal, Tambor said in a statement: “I am profoundly disappointed in Amazon’s handling of these false accusations against me.
“I am even more disappointed in Jill Soloway’s unfair characterization of me as someone who would ever cause harm to any of my fellow cast mates. In our four-year history of working together on this incredible show, these accusations have NEVER been revealed or discussed directly with me or anyone at Amazon.
“Therefore, I can only surmise that the investigation against me was deeply flawed and biased toward the toxic politicised atmosphere that afflicted our set.”

He added that he “deeply” regretted if any of his actions were ever “misinterpreted” and that he would “vehemently” defend himself.
After the allegations, GLAAD said in a statement: “For too long transgender women have been forced to hide stories of harassment and abuse in the workplace, and Trace has taken a powerful stand in calling for an industry where all women can work in safe environments.
“GLAAD stands with Trace in her hope that the inappropriate situations she and others endured on set will be remedied, and that future seasons will focus on more of the many brilliant characters that audiences love and care about.”
