Drag Race Thailand has dropped a new trailer, and it’s stunning
Drag Race Thailand has released a fantastic trailer ahead of its debut in the US.
The Thai version of the iconic programme will be shown on RuPaul’s Drag Race production company World of Wonder’s streaming platform, WOW Presents Plus, from May 4.
And it looks spectacular.
This will perhaps provide some consolation for viewers feeling bereft after the revelation that RuPaul’s Drag Race Seasons 2-7 will be removed from Netflix in just two weeks’ time, on April 30.
Hosted by fashion stylist Art-Araya Indra and Thai drag queen Pangina Heals – who has 84,000 Instagram followers – the show seems to have attracted some characteristically entertaining queens.
Indra tells the audience: “In this competition, bring the heat, the fierce and the bitch within and show it to the world,” and it appears that the queens took this to heart.
One contestant, Jaja, enters the show made up with yellow, blue and purple face paint, as well as a blonde wig.
This leads another queen to ask: “Jaja, is that your face or did the zoo just open? Why so excessive?!”
Sparks flew with the other competitors, too, as one queen combined the names of two of the others – Natalia and Dearis Doll – to create the phrase “lick the dick” in Thai.
Another contestant, B Ella – who explained that “B is for big; Ella is for elephant” – was told: “Your cleavage is so close to the armpits.”
And one more remarks to the camera: “Let me be real, okay? She is a fossil!”
The show is in Thai with English subtitles, but some English phrases have remained, like, “Don’t f**k it up” and “Pit crew.”
Just like in the original version, queens must participate in a mini-challenge, main challenge, face critiques on the runway, and – if they fall short – lip-sync for their lives.
As shown in the trailer, the queens will also be soaked with water during one challenge – just like in the original version of the programme.

Fenton Bailey, executive producer of RuPaul’s Drag Race, told Entertainment Weekly: “We were fortunate enough to be on set for some of the taping of Drag Race Thailand, and we were left breathless!
“Be prepared to gag!”
Speaking to NewNowNext, he added: “It’s an amazing cast. The whole vibe feels great. They are really going for it.”
Bailey continued: “Even though they are following the format, I want them to bring their inimitable style and characteristics.
“It’s not supposed to be a slavish copy of Drag Race USA, and they should bring their own creativity, uniqueness, nerve, and talent.
“And I think they are doing that! That’s what I saw when boots were on the ground.”
