RuPaul schools “disrespectful” Drag Race contestant The Vixen during Season 10 reunion
RuPaul got real about the Vixen’s behaviour during the Season 10 reunion of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
If you haven’t had the chance to watch this week’s episode yet, consider this a MASSIVE SPOILER ALERT.
Each season of Drag Race brings its laundry load of drama that gets cleaned, dried and steam-pressed during the highly anticipated reunion episode. This year’s reunion did not disappoint, with each queen sharing their hot takes on the season.
But perhaps the hottest tea of all was spilled when controversial contestant The Vixen stormed off after a verbal altercation with fellow contestant (and finalist) Eureka O’Hara. This propelled a firm but steaming reaction from the show’s host, Miss RuPaul herself.
Eureka and The Vixen gave us some great TV this season with their intense arguments both on Drag Race and its behind-the-scenes spin-off show Untucked.
But when it came time to discuss the tensions during the reunion, the queen from Chicago decided she had enough, thanked her fans and made her exit.
All the queens were stunned by The Vixen’s behaviour and fellow contestant Asia O’Hara (also a finalist in Season 10) shared her dismay, struggling to hold back tears.

RuPaul declared that he felt “disrespected” by Vixen’s abrupt departure.
“There was nothing anyone could do to stop her,” the host said.
“I saw the fear, and I saw all of that. And I understood why that wall was put up, because I have that wall. You have it, you have it, we all have it,” RuPaul said.
“And it’s coming from a hurt place. It is,” RuPaul continued. “But I can’t teach her that. I can teach her through my own example… Can you explain to someone who cannot be spoken to?”

“I come from the same goddamn place she comes from! And here I am! You see me walkin’ out? No, I’m not walking out. I fucking learned how to act around people and how to deal with shit. I’m not fucking walking out and saying, ‘Fuck all y’all!’ That’s disrespectful. To each of you.”
During her time on the show, Vixen brought up issues or race and discrimination within the drag world and within its fanbase. RuPaul echoed these thoughts, sharing his own experience.
“I have been discriminated against by white people for being black, by black people for being gay, by gay people for being too femme,” he said.
“Did I let that stop me from getting to this chair? No, I had to separate what I feel or what my impression of the situation is to put my focus on the goal. You can’t just make excuses for bad behaviour or for inconsiderate behaviour.”
RuPaul stressed he was most annoyed by Vixen wasting the opportunity to be heard.
“I invited each of you back here to my house, into my home. And if I’m invited to someone’s home, I’m not gonna disrespect their home. I’m not gonna disrespect the invitation,” he said.
The moment is very reminiscent from a now-iconic TV nugget from America’s Next Top Model when host Tyra Banks got emotional with a contestant, telling her: “I was rooting for you, we were all rooting for you.”
