16 iconic Drag Race quotes to live by on International Drag Day

Hey, Kitty Girls! It’s International Drag Day. Can you believe?

Let’s take a moment to appreciate performers all around the world who dedicate themselves to their passion for drag.

Of course, in this day and age, it’s hard to think of drag without thinking of RuPaul’s Drag Race, which broke into the mainstream with 10 seasons and three All Stars competitions in the US, and a very successful first season in Thailand.

Over the years, contestants on the show have blessed us with highly quotable moments, from catchy one-liners in the show’s main challenges to interview herstory and Untucked drama.

So child, let’s show these amazing women some love with the best Drag Race quotes.

“If you can’t love yourself, how in the hell are you gonna love somebody else! Can I get an amen?” — RuPaul, literally every single episode

Closing every episode of the show since Season 1, one of the most well known Drag Race quotes comes from Mama Ru herself. It’s an international message of self-acceptance that resonates way beyond the show’s audience of one million viewers.

“I love long walks on the beach, big d**ks and fried chicken” – Jujubee, Season 2

Truer words have rarely been spoken. Season 2 contestant Jujubee delivered one-liner after one-liner during her time on the show, but this one made it to prosperity.

“Go back to Party City, where you belong!” – Phi Phi O’Hara, Season 4

Oh, Phi Phi, how we love to hate you. The drag queen is a fierce contestant and her cosplay drag is out of this world, but she shall always be remembered for her legendary outbursts against Season 4 winner Sharon Needles and All Stars 2 contestant Alyssa Edwards. Phi Phi eventually blamed the show’s production production for her villainous edit and skipped the All Stars 2 reunion, but the drama she provided built Drag Race into what it is today. Hats off, riddler!

“I’m Roxxy Andrews and I’m here to make it clear, I know you love me baby, that’s why you brought me here…” – Roxxy Andrews, All Stars 2

The iconic verse from “Read U Wrote U” that’s so bad it became the best known part of the song. Roxxy, you tell them, queen of memes!

“Two pieces and a biscuit.” – Mystique, Season 2

The first big girl to appear on the show, Mystique experienced a lot of fat-shaming during her season, but it didn’t keep her from producing one of the show’s first one-liners!

“Facts are facts, America.” – Monique Heart, Season 10

Monique Heart, the Heart of Season 10, brought her own batch of quotable moments during the show’s latest season. From “ooh-ah-ah sensation” to “brown Cow” to “stunning,” Ms Heart earned herself a special place in our hearts.

“Miss Vanjie…. Miss… Vaaaaanjie… Miss Vaaaaaaaaaaaaanjiiiiiiie” – Miss… Vanjie, Season 10

Miss Vanessa Vanjie Matteo of the Matteo Dynasty may have been the first contestant to sashay away in Season 10, but she sure made an impression on viewers (and RuPaul herself, clock the necklace). She made meme herstory on Twitter and made some fans wish she’d come back for Season 11. Time will tell if their wishes are answered.

“The shaaaade, the shade of it aaaaaall” – Latrice Royale, Season 4

The “chunky yet funky” Latrice is a universally beloved contestant. During her time on the show she delivered some classic lines, like “Eat it,” the five Gs (“Good God get a grip, gir!”) and, of course, “Get those nuts away from my face.” Honestly, the world needs more Latrice Royale.

“Not today, Satan!” – Bianca Del Rio, Season 6

Here comes one of those quotes that turned into a highly shareable GIF. Bianca del Rio, insult artist and season 6 winner graced us with so many one-liners it’s hard to only pick one. But “Not today, Satan” stands out just because it’s just THAT efficient at silencing haters.

“Your tone seems really pointed right now.” – Willam, Season 4

Queen of not giving a f**ck (and of breaking the rules), Willam delivered some serious verbal fire in her time on Season 4, and this line is one of them.

“Is there something on my face?” – Pearl, Season 7

Wake up, Pearl, WAKE UP! Young contestant Pearl went from sleep-walker to runner-up on Season 7, but not before a showdown with RuPaul herself! Providing one of the most dramatic moments of Season 7.

“She was the one backstabbing me behind my back.” – Alyssa Edwards, Season 5

Drag Race royalty Alyssa Edwards left a lasting impression and literally all her moments from both her time on Season 5 and All Stars 2 are meme factories. Also worth remembering: “Rigga morris,” “I don’t get cute, I get drop dead gorgeous,” “Backrolls,” “You were that girl I knew you were” and “Santino, will you please shut the fuck up with your no drag knowledge mouth.” We could fill an entire article with just quotes from Alyssa.

“Anus-thing is possible,” – Alaska, Season 5

Alaska earned her spot on the show after auditioning five times. And thank god she made it. The Season 5 runner-up and All Stars 2 winner is famous for her dirty humour, her singing career and her legendary tantrums. But if anything, this only added up to her legend.

“You’re perfect, you’re beautiful, you look like Eva Evangelista, you’re a model…” – Aja, Season 9

You know the rest of that quote. Frustrated about the compliments fellow contestant Valentina was getting on the show’s runway, Aja exploded on Untucked. She turned her bitterness into one of the most memorable moments of Season 9.

“After a long night of hooking, trade didn’t like the session so he had gutted me and set me on fire..but I didn’t die..bitch, I crystalised…and now I’m a Glamazon bitch, ready for the runway” – Kennedy Davenport, Season 7

This whole sentence will probably follow Miss Kennedy Davenport for the rest of her life, along with, “F**k my drag, right?” The Season 7 contestant and All Stars 3 runner-up is one of the most underestimated drag queens on the show. There, I’ve said it!

“Choices.” – Tatiana, All Stars 2

After her “thank you,” Tatiana came back to All Stars 2 with a brand new catch-phrase that applied just the right amount of shade.

“When do I get to blow them? … I can’t say that?” – Katya Zamolodchikova, Season 7

Katya blessed us with amazing confessional interviews on Season 7, and this quote sums it all up perfectly. We love you, you Russian transvestite hooker!

Special mention: Literally any tongue pop attempted by any queen at any time since Alyssa Edwards patented it on Season 5.

Happy International Drag Day, everyone!
