Ariana Grande has responded to fan speculation that she’s a “lesbian now” in a teaser for her upcoming “thank u, next” music video.
Grande made a Mean Girls send-up as a teaser for the video, bringing in a host of famous friends alongside former Mean Girls stars to spread rumours about her.

“Bloom” singer Troye Sivan makes an appearance in the clip, saying: “I heard she’s a lesbian now and dating some chick called Aubrey. It’s f**king sick.”

The gag is a reference to fan confusion over a line in “thank u, next” which gave rise to Ariana Grande lesbian rumours.
In the track, Grande gives shoutouts to her ex-boyfriends before singing: “I know they say I move on too fast / But this one gon’ last / ‘Cause her name is Ari / And I’m so good with that.”
Although “Ari” was a reference to herself, some fans misheard the line as “Aubrey” and speculated that Grande was now dating a woman.

One Twitter user posted: “Did..did Ariana Grande just tell her ex fiancée that she’s a lesbian now? In a song??”
Another fan posted: “omg I just was googling Ariana lesbian rumors like WHO IS AUBREY lmao.”
Adding to confusion, Apple Music initially mis-transcribed the lyric as “Aubrey.”

Grande herself had sought to clarify the line after “Aubrey” started trending on Twitter, tweeting: “@AppleMusic i said Ari fam ”
The teaser also stars YouTube star Colleen Ballinger as a pregnant teen, who jokes: “One time on Twitter I heard Ariana was pregnant, so I got pregnant so we could be pregnant at the same time… turns out it was just a rumour.”
Mean Girls star Jonathan Bennett, who played Aaron Samuels, references a line from the Lindsay Lohan classic, adding: “One time, Ariana Grande told me my hair looks sexy pushed back. She’s not wrong.”
