Fox News host Tucker Carlson has a very normal reaction to Pete Buttigieg
Fox News host Tucker Carlson is getting a bit worked up about gay presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg.
The right-wing TV host addressed the ascendance of the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, on his Fox News on Tuesday (April 16), after the launch of Buttigieg’s campaign won praise.
Tucker Carslon: Every last drop of Buttigieg, yum
Carlson reflected on the fizzling campaign of Texas candidate Beto O’Rourke, saying: “Imagine one morning you wake up and your one true love, the American news media, have called it off. They left you for a younger, hotter candidate.
“Went out for a pack of cigarettes and never came home. They split with some guy from Indiana and can’t even pronounce the guy’s name.”
He added of the newfound focus on Buttigieg: “This is a new level of political commitment. They don’t just want to vote for this guy, they want to consume him like a hearty stew.
“Every last drop of Buttigieg. Yum.”

The comment quickly went viral online, with many mocking Carlson, who has a history of using homophobic slurs.
One Twitter user responded: “He’s talking about him like he’s full of meat. The subtext is not so sub anymore.”
Another joked: “My laptop just got slapped with a restraining order *and* a court-ordered sex offender registry for playing this.”
One user added: “It’s an appeal to homophobia, executed with maximum Carlson creepiness.”
Pete Buttigieg has faced homophobia on the campaign trail
Also on Tuesday (April 16), Buttigieg shrugged off homophobic chants at two campaign rallies in Iowa.
At one event, the candidate was met by anti-gay protesters shouting “Remember Sodom and Gomorrah” at him.
After one of the incidents, Buttigieg defused the tension with a joke.
He said: “That gentleman believes that what he is doing is in line with the will of the creator.
“I view it differently. We ought to be able to view it differently and never question one another’s choices.
“The good news is, the condition of my soul is in the hands of God but the Iowa Caucuses are up to you.”
Pete Buttigieg has ‘shattered lavender ceiling’
Annise Parker of Victory Fund, a political action Ccommittee that supports LGBT+ candidates, paid tribute to Buttigieg.
She said: “Mayor Pete shattered a lavender ceiling once thought unbreakable, becoming the first openly LGBTQ Democratic presidential candidate in American history and our first real shot at the Oval Office.
“There is enormous power in an openly gay presidential candidate stumping at town halls in Iowa and speaking to Americans from the presidential debate stage – it changes perceptions of our community and raises the bar for candidates who seek LGBTQ support.
“While Mayor Pete’s candidacy is historic and a milestone moment for our community, his meteoric rise is most notable for the support he’s receiving from diverse groups of voters.
“There are enormous minefields and hurdles to running as an openly LGBTQ candidate, and so far, Mayor Pete has gracefully leapt over them on the world’s largest political stage. He’s the real deal.”
