Texas man who shot and killed gay man allegedly ‘hated homosexuals’
A Texas man allegedly met up with a gay man through a dating app so he could shoot and kill him because he “hated homosexuals.”
Devonte Garrison has been charged with capital murder after robbing, shooting and killing Adrienne Ward in Houston on April 19.
Police originally had no motive for the killing—however, an anonymous tip from somebody known as “Bunny” said she spoke to a man who called himself Arzue on a dating app, according to Click2Houston.com.

She alleged that Arzue—who police later identified as Garrison—bragged about killing Ward and said he “hated homosexuals and that he lured [Ward] to his apartment under the ruse of hooking up,” according to prosecutors.
He also allegedly told her that he planned to rob Ward.
“Bunny” subsequently reported the man to police, which led to Garrison being arrested on Sunday (April 28) and charged with capital murder.
Garrison also allegedly told the woman that he robbed Ward’s phone while in the car with him. He is now being held without bond in Harris County Jail and appeared in court yesterday (April 29) with his next court appearance scheduled for tomorrow.
“I was looking out and downstairs from upstairs and I was like ‘The car is in the patio, literally flipped over in the patio.’”
Prosecutors began searching for Ward’s killer after he was found dead in his car at 2.30am on April 19.
Residents of the Excelsior on the Park apartments on Ella Boulevard reported waking up to gunshots during the night.

When Ward was shot dead, his car reportedly rolled back and crashed into an apartment.
The resident of the apartment told KPRC2 that she heard gunshots during the night.
“It was out of the blue,” she said. “I’m a light sleeper cause I have a baby, so out of the blue (I heard) ‘pow, pow, pow, sklirt bam.’
“I was looking out and downstairs from upstairs and I was like ‘The car is in the patio, literally flipped over in the patio.’”
She said the crash “knocked down the whole fence” and broke her daughter’s basketball net.
Her husband reportedly tried to get Ward out of the vehicle but an ambulance arrived beforehand. Ward was then transported to hospital where he later died from his injuries.
