Tati Westbrook breaks silence on James Charles, asks for ‘hate to stop’

YouTuber Tati Westbrook—who last week went viral when she made claims about James Charles’ conduct—has broken her silence in a follow-up video in which she asked for the “hate to stop.”
“I do really want the hate to stop,” Westbrook said. “I want the picking sides and the abusive memes and the language and all of that, I really hope on both sides, it can stop. That’s not why I made the video.”
She continued: “This really was a wake-up call and it was me trying to reach someone who I found completely unreachable, and I had been trying to deliver the same message so many times because this wasn’t just about one thing. I think a lot of you guys understand that.”
Westbrook said she felt the need to make the video as Charles was “losing the ability to get honest.”

“I want you guys to know I don’t hate James Charles,” Westbrook continued. “I don’t want you guys hating on him. I can’t even go online right now. It’s painful to watch someone that you have cared about be dragged, to know that this all started because of me, and I don’t think anyone deserves that. I just don’t.
“I think there’s behaviour there that’s dangerous but the story spun in so many different direction with words that I never used.
“I just want you guys to know that there is no celebration in what’s happening. And if I could give all of the new success back and the new subscribers back, I would.

“I think that we owe it to James to let him figure it out and heal, and I hope that he does and I hope he seeks out people that have his best interests and not just people on his payroll, because you need that and you deserve that and you need to be guided.”
James Charles experienced a fall from grace last week after Tati Westbrook made claims about his conduct
19-year-old James Charles has developed a huge following online in recent years for his work as a make-up artist.
However, the star experienced a quick fall from grace last week when Tati Westbrook uploaded her 43-minute long YouTube video which was titled: “Bye Sisters.”
Westbrook attacked her fellow YouTuber for regularly joking about having sex with straight men.
She said: “You tried tricking a straight man into thinking he’s gay yet again, and somehow you’re the victim.
“I just want you guys to know that there is no celebration in what’s happening. And if I could give all of the new success back and the new subscribers back, I would.”

“You know, it’s really disgusting to manipulate someone’s sexuality, especially when they are still emerging into adulthood and don’t have everything quite figured out.
“You are using your fame, your power, your money to play with people’s emotions.

“You’re threatening to ruin them. You’re threatening to embarrass them. And you’re doing that to have them behave sexually in your favour, even if they’re straight.
“And you know what? That’s not okay. That behaviour’s not OK.”
James Charles issued an apology video
In a response video, James Charles said: “Boys have been a topic that I’ve talked a lot about on my social media journey, and I wish I hadn’t.
“I’ve been involved in a lot of very unique and strange situations that have left people confused or upset, and I learned the hard way about ways I can interact with boys I’m interested in.
“This is a conversation that I know a lot of people are uncomfortable with, and it’s something I should have been far more careful with, bringing into the public eye.”
