NHS Rainbow Badges hospital trolls person asking for ‘straight badge’

An LGBT badge scheme at the NHS led to the perfect response from a hospital’s social media.
On Friday (May 17), Evelina London Children’s Hospital, as part of the Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, unveiled a new Rainbow Badges scheme.
The scheme, in which staff can wear NHS rainbow badges, aims to show that the hospital is a non-judgemental and inclusive place for the LGBT community.
“The badge is a reminder that you can talk to our staff about who you are and how you feel. They will do their best to get support for you if you need it,” the hospital said.
“Many young LGBT+ people say that they do not have an adult they can turn to or confide in. We believe that people who work in healthcare can play a key role in making things better.”

‘How about a straight badge?’
As the Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust shared the news of the launch on social media, one Twitter user named Neil asked in a now-deleted post: ‘How about a straight badge?”
Perhaps ready for such a comment, the trust was quick to reply with the perfect response.
“Here you go Neil, so you don’t feel left out,” the trust replied with followed by a mock-up image of a badge saying ‘Neil is straight’.

Users on social media couldn’t get enough of the “amazing” comeback, with one user asking: “Will the NHS be able to provide treatment for that amazing burn?”
Another person said: “I had to double check if this was legit and it is. I don’t know who did this but you’re an absolute genius. hope Neil enjoys his badge, poor fella”.
Some users even suggested the NHS made the alternative badges. One Twitter poster said: “Can you please actually produce this? I would 100% buy a badge that says “Neil is straight””.
