Mum returns son’s pink T-shirt with note saying dad won’t let him wear it

A mother returned a pink t-shirt she bought for her young son with a note attached saying that her husband wouldn’t let the child wear it.
The woman, who has remained anonymous, returned the bright pink giraffe T-shirt to gender-neutral children’s clothing shop Fred and Noah.
The note, which the brand posted on social media, read: “It’s a beautiful top but my husband won’t let my son wear it.”
Company director Natalie Reynolds told The Mirror: “It was a shame to hear the mum wanted to return this top, as she would have loved to dress her son in it but the dad just thought it was too pink.
“You’re only small once and we should just let children be little and wear whatever they want, regardless of their gender.”
The online children’s clothing shop does not separate clothes by gender.
Reynolds said that she had had previous instances of parents returning clothes after buying them for boys and then deciding they were “too girly.”
She added: “I’d never dictate what clothes parents should dress their babies in as it’s their opinion, and our brand offers something for everyone.
“At the end of the day, at that age, they don’t care what they wear.”

“I’d return the husband, not the top,” said one customer
The brand asked customers on social media for their thoughts on gendered children’s clothing.
One replied: “It promotes a mindset that causes these lovely littles to second guess themselves and their choices.
“Letting a little person try the colours and clothes they like means that they get the message that they can be who they want to be but also CHOOSE who they want to be and are supported by their loved ones.
“Surely a child growing in this type of environment has a foundation to grow from with a great mindset?!
“Yeah, it might be just a T-shirt but it could be so much more. I’d rather my kid knows that I’m happy as long as he’s happy, whatever he’s wearing.”
Another person commented on Fred and Noah’s Instagram post: “I’d return the husband, not the top.”
