Jaimie Alexander wants to be Valkyrie’s queen in next Thor film
Actress Jaimie Alexander has volunteered herself as a potential queen for Valkyrie in Marvel’s upcoming film Thor: Love and Thunder, which is due for release in 2021.
The news comes after Marvel announced its upcoming slate of films and television projects at San Diego Comic-Con earlier this month. Tessa Thompson also attended the event and revealed that her character Valkyrie is the new ruler of Asgard. She also said that Valkyrie will be visibly queer in the new film and will be “looking for a queen.”
Now, Jaimie Alexander—who played Sif in Thor—has kindly offered to take the role of Valkyrie’s queen in the upcoming project.
Writing on Twitter yesterday, Alexander shared an article that looked at eight characters who could be Valkyrie’s queen in Thor: Love and Thunder.
She shared the article and simply wrote: “>raises hand<” alongside a heart-eyes emoji and a fire emoji.
Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie will find her queen in the upcoming Marvel flick
While Thompson has said that she is “looking for a queen” in the upcoming film, an actor has not yet been confirmed for the role. Despite this, various characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) have been suggested as potential love interests for Valkyrie since Thompson made her comments earlier this month.
One of those suggestions is Captain Marvel. Since the film was released in May, starring Brie Larson in the lead role, fans have been shipping the two characters. Both actresses shared fan art online which depicted their superhero characters in a romantic relationship.
Marvel has had a complicated relationship with LGBT+ representation
Despite this, Marvel has had a complicated history with LGBT+ representation. While promoting Thor: Ragnarok, Thompson revealed that a scene had been cut from the film which would have made it clear that she is bisexual.
While her character has not been explicitly queer in the MCU up until now, Thompson told Variety in April that it was her “intention” to play Valkyrie as bisexual.
“In the canon, yeah, she is bisexual. You see her with both women and men, so that was my intention in playing her,” she said.
In the same interview, Thompson said she could see Valkyrie in a polyamorous relationship with both Thor and Captain Marvel.

“I think a communal spoon—just a spoon between friends that are hardworking—it could be polyamorous. Why not? A throuple, with Thor as the baby spoon,” she said.
In June 2018, Thompson revealed that she is attracted to both men and women.
