Liam Hemsworth has filed for divorce from Miley Cyrus less than two weeks after announcing their split.
The Hunger Games actor filed legal documents in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday, August 21, citing “irreconcilable differences”.
Hemsworth is being represented by Laura Wasser, a renowned lawyer whose past clients include Kim Kardashian and Ryan Reynolds.
According to TMZ, Hemsworth and the ‘Wrecking Ball’ singer have a prenuptial agreement that states that they are entitled to keep their individual incomes earned during their marriage.
The split comes eight months after the pair tied the knot in a secret ceremony in Tennessee.

Prior to their marriage in December 2018, Cyrus and Hemsworth had been dating on and off for 10 years.
They first meeting on the set of The Last Song in 2009.
A representative for Cyrus announced the couple’s breakup on Saturday, August 10.
They told People: “Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers.”
They continued: “[The couple] still remain dedicated parents to all of the animals they share.”
Since the announcement of the split, Cyrus has been linked to Brody Jenner’s ex-wife, Kaitlynn Carter.

Miley releases break-up song.
Days after their split, Cyrus released a new song titled ‘Slide Away’.
Some of the lyrics make clear references to Hemsworth and the couple’s relationship.
As well as referencing the wildfire that destroyed their Californian home, the song mentions how the pair have grown into different people.
“Move on, we’re not 17/I’m not who I used to be/You say that everything changed/You’re right, we’re grown now.”
A source has since told People that Cyrus wasn’t trying to hurt Hemsworth.
“Her song was her way of telling her story without having to say anything at all,” the source said.
“She isn’t trying to bash him, but she wants to be able to share what she’s been going through.”
